Bonnie is the founder and continuing champion of the Spring H.O.P.E. Food Drive.  Since its modest beginnings more than 10 years ago, this province-wide event has brought landlords and residents together every year, resulting in the collection of millions of pounds of food for local food banks.

The Scott Mission

Bonnie Hoy coordinated the Greater Toronto Apartment Association clothing drive for the Scott Mission, resulting in 5 tons of clothing being donated to high risk and homeless people.  She also participates regularly as a volunteer at the Scott Mission.

Interval House Women’s Shelter

Bonnie has actively partnered with Interval House, a shelter that helps women that have been emotionally, physically and financially abused to get back on their feet.  She works with housing providers to find homes for families in need and dedicates numerous hours to train, develop and place these women in suitable jobs.  Safety and shelter are an easy fix – renewing someone’s self-esteem and confidence can change their life.

Recently Bonnie initiated a scholarship program for post-secondary school students at a teachers’ college in Jamaica. To date, more than 50 scholarships have been awarded to deserving students at Bethlehem Moravian College in St. Elizabeth Parish. Not content simply to award annual scholarships, Bonnie has also approached her industry contacts to donate used computers to area schools giving students an opportunity to supplement their educational needs from sources around the world.
